The so-called fluxgate sensors are high sensitive and disturbance-free current sensors. The fluxgate sensors often contain multiple rings of soft core ferromagnetic materials and coils around the core rings for various compensations, resulting in high development and production effort.
The innovative project Current Sensor was concerned, in contrast to fluxgate sensors, with only one ring core and one coil. As a result of this the development effort is greatly reduced.
The concept of the Current Sensor was later partly implemented in the Project EmSiG.
